The Addon Junkie

 So a while back I saw these baby gryphon and windrider minipet models and thought they were adorable. I had no idea how they were going to be worked into the game, though, and I must say I’m impressed with how Blizzard pulls off this mini-transaction. Unlike the last purchaseable pets, these come with a plush counterpart of themselves! No word yet on release date, but they are listed on the main World of Warcraft site as “Coming Soon.” What an admirably creative way for Blizz to dodge the incoming waves of nerdrage regarding their recent addition of real-money purchases of digital items (which their own ToS prohibits).

Again, no word on when these will be released, but you can bet when they are my fiancee is going to want one – and in my expected price range for these things, she usually gets what she wants

Update: As of 2/23/2010 these pets are now available in the Blizzard store and of course my fiancee’s order has been placed. They run about $25 each, well worth it for the joyous squeals that will no doubt ensue when UPS arrives at our doorstep.
